Topic : Integrating the Human Element into Security Operations
This presentation delves into the often overlooked yet vital aspect of cybersecurity – human data. We will discuss how existing tools in the security stack, traditionally used for technical defenses, can be innovatively applied to analyze and leverage human behavioral insights. Common challenges across security teams include alert fatigue, false positives, and repeat remediation. By exploring the significance of human data to enhance security measures, security teams can learn how to leverage human insights to not only accelerate security operations but also provides a strategic edge in addressing emerging challenges in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. The focus of this presentation will be on the methodology for evaluating the importance of human data to better utilize existing resources and demonstrating how the integration of human elements can significantly fortify an organization’s cybersecurity program.
Presented by: Ryan Boerner
Ryan Boerner is the CEO and Founder of Keep Aware, a browser security startup based in Texas. Ryan has a background in computer engineering and started his cybersecurity career as a SOC analyst. His main responsibilities were investigating and responding to network-based threats across various state schools and agencies in Texas. He also gained experience working at IBM and Darktrace, where he collaborated with organizations of various sizes and built systems and integrations that support SOC facilities across the world. These experiences have equipped him with a strong understanding of network security and have made him realize the disconnect between employees in an organization and the security team. He started Keep Aware to address a blind spot within the security stack and create a more secure workforce.
